Why should I clean my mattress?
Nowadays mattresses on average cost over $1000. Cleaning your mattress instead of throwing it away is the more environmentally responsible and cost-effective choice. Mattresses are bulky items that take up a significant amount of space in landfills and contribute to environmental pollution, they are also quite inconvenient to dispose of. Additionally, mattresses are typically made of materials that can be difficult to break down and dispose of properly. By cleaning your mattress, you can prolong its lifespan, reducing the need for replacement and minimizing waste. Regular cleaning can also help maintain the comfort and hygiene of your mattress. Overall, cleaning your mattress is a sustainable and practical choice that benefits both the environment and your wallet.
Mattresses over their lifespan (which is typically about 7-10 years) gain an average of 8 lbs. and in some cases can even double in weight. "With what?" you may ask. The average mattress will accumulate: Dead skin, dust mites, allergens, dirt-debris, hair/dander, bacteria, sweat, fungal spores, mildew, food/drink, cosmetics, residual chemicals from detergents, bodily fluids, and even more miscellaneous things.
Cleaning your mattress regularly remains important even if you use a mattress cover. While mattress covers mostly protect against spills and stains, they don't fully prevent the accumulation of the aforementioned contaminants. Over time, these particles still penetrate the cover and create an unhealthy sleeping environment. Regular cleaning helps to remove these contaminants, ensuring that your mattress remains fresh, hygienic, and free from potential allergens that can impact your health and quality of sleep.

The more you know
Cuddling our fur-babies is a must! That said, having pets on a bed can become unsanitary over time due to factors such as pet dander, fur shedding, potential parasites, transfer of bacteria and germs from pets' fur or paws, also bodily accidents from time to time. These factors can lead to the accumulation of allergens, bacteria, and odors on bedding, creating an unhealthy sleeping environment. Regular cleaning of bedding and taking measures to minimize pet-related contaminants is essential for maintaining a clean and healthy sleeping space. Plus, our natural and chemical free process keeps them and the rest of your family safe.
On average humans sweat 200ml a night, that is nearly a cup of sweat! Regularly cleaning your mattress is essential due to sweat. Sweat can seep into the mattress, creating a breeding ground for bacteria and allergens. Over time, this can lead to mattress sagging, unpleasant odors, skin irritation, and worsen allergies. Sweat is also a leading factor that leads to mold/mildew and fungal spores. Cleaning your mattress helps maintain hygiene, prolong its lifespan, and ensures a healthier sleeping environment.
On average, there are anywhere from ten thousand to two million dust mites on your mattress at any given moment. Their favorite meal? Your dead skin. Eliminating dust mites from your bed is crucial for reducing allergens that can trigger asthma and allergies. They lead to respiratory issues and skin irritation. Regular cleaning can help minimize dust mite populations, creating a healthier sleeping environment and improving overall well-being.
Our Work and Methods
At DreamClean Mattress Care, we understand the importance of a good night's sleep and the role that a clean and healthy mattress plays in achieving it, in fact on average humans spend 29% of their time in bed. That's why we are dedicated to providing top-notch mattress cleaning services that are not only effective and cost effective, but also eco-friendly and chemical-free. Here's how it works:
- First things first, we assess read the label and follow the manufacturer's cleaning guidelines. *
- We start with our eco-friendly organic moisture absorbent which consists baking soda and your choice of tea tree (essential oil) or unscented.
- Next is state-of-the-art UV vacuuming: UV light eliminates 99.9% of harmful substances like bacteria and viruses. Our vacuums use HEPA filters for deep purification, which captures particles as small as 0.3 microns, isolates large particles of dust, and firmly locks dust and dirt.
- After that we apply state-of-the-art DRY VAPOR steam cleaning. Unlike regular steam cleaners, we use a system that creates a high-temperature, low-moisture vapor. This vapor is referred to as steam vapor that kills 99.95% of harmful substance. Only 5% of the vapor is water, for reference the air we breathe is 1-3% water.
- For any tough stains, we use the organic and eco-friendly enzyme cleaner BIOKLEEN bac-out in order to achieve complete visual satisfaction.
- Finally, we go over once again with our UV vacuum to assist the drying of the mattress, and also go after that 0.05% of leftover substances.
ALL YOU NEED TO DO: Prepare by removing sheets and covers (now is a good time to wash your sheets on a hot water cycle). After we are finished let your mattress air out for one to four hours. Due to our process, there is minimal moisture, this is precautionary step, though sometimes necessary depending on the intensity of clean, the season, and the airflow of surroundings. Our technician will inform you of due process.
*(For some memory foam mattresses, we skip the DRY VAPOR cleaning due to its high temperature. Instead, we manually clean any stains with microfiber towels, and apply a light misting of white vinegar and tea tree oil for its anti-bacterial effects.)
